KUALA LUMPUR, 25 MAC 2009: Program realiti TV yang bertujuan mencari bakat baru dalam dunia lakonan, Anak Wayang bakal mewarnai dunia hiburan dan akan melahirkan bintang-bintang baru dalam bidang lakonan tanah air.

Projek terbaru Astro yang disifatkan antara yang termahal ini akan mula bersiaran sejurus selepas Akademi Fantasia ke-7 (AF7) tamat, iaitu pada 22 Mei 2009.

Konsep pertandingan yang didukung oleh dua buah saluran iaitu Astro Ria dan Astro Prima ini bakal memperlihatkan para peserta bersaing di Astro Ria untuk memegang salah satu watak yang terdiri daripada jururawat, mekanik, pengelola majlis, gangster dan setiausaha. Mereka yang layak untuk watak masing-masing akan berlakon pada drama bersiri 50 episod berjudul Kecuali Cintamu, yang akan ditayangkan di Astro Prima.
"25 peserta akan dibahagikan kepada 5 kumpulan dan setiap peserta akan bersaing sesama mereka (dalam kumpulan) untuk merebut watak-watak berkenaan. Panel juri yang ditetapkan pula akan menilai prestasi mereka dan memilih hanya dua peserta untuk mara ke hadapan. Nasib dua peserta ini akan ditentukan oleh undian Khidmat Pesanan Ringkas (SMS). Bagi mengetahui keputusan undian SMS, penonton perlu menyaksikan drama di Astro Prima pada setiap minggu.

"Lima watak tersebut kemudian perlu mengekalkan mutu lakonan mereka dalam drama bersiri di Astro Prima kerana tiga watak akan dimatikan dan memberi peluang kepada penonton untuk memilih hanya seorang yang layak bergelar Anak Wayang melalui undian SMS.

"Anak Wayang terdiri daripada sebuah program realiti dan sebuah drama bersiri yang berlangsung serentak. Program Realiti ditayangkan di Astro Ria manakala drama bersiri disiarkan di saluran Astro Prima. Ia akan berlangsung selama 10 minggu," kata Pengarah Eksekutif Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd, Zainir Aminullah ketika bercakap pada Majlis Sidang Media memperkenalkan Anak Wayang, di Pusat Seni Persembahan Kuala Lumpur (KLPac), Sentul.

Bagi mencari 25 bakat untuk bertanding, ujibakat bakal diadakan di Grand Paragon Hotel, Johor Bahru pada 4 & 5 April, Bayview Hotel, Pinang (11 & 12 April) dan Shah Alam City Centre, Shah Alam (18 & 19 April).
